My botanical watercolors are always painted from life and from direct experience with the plants. The process of painting demands focus and mental stillness and acute observation. in painting the plants I learn a great deal about them. My paintings are a form of communication with each plant’s unique intelligence. The plants in these watercolors grow in Walker Mountain Botanical Sanctuary, a United Plant Savers Botanical Sanctuary that we manage on our land in Deerfield, Virginia.
