More Ways to Give

United Plant Savers has ambitious plans to advocate for a future where medicinal plants and their habitats are protected. We’re so grateful for supporters like you who are standing with us and finding new ways to move our mission forward. More and more donors like you are making tax-smart gifts to support us –– instead of donating cash.

Making a gift of appreciated stock, bonds, or mutual funds is easy!

Donating stocks or mutual funds to United Plant Savers is a smart and simple way to help protect the natural world and allows you to avoid the capital gains tax. If you itemize deductions, you can also take a charitable deduction for the entire donation amount. Instructions are below if you would like to donate any stocks.

Use your IRA to make tax-free gifts that benefit our mission. If you are 70.5 or older and have a traditional IRA, you can make a donation right from your account. IRA gifts are generally not recognized as taxable income — so if you must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) this year, giving from your IRA is a compassionate way to fulfill it.

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) are investment accounts for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations. If you have a DAF, consider recommending grants to United Plant Savers for tax-efficient giving.

You can make a targeted impact by recommending how you’d like your grant to be allocated, communicating your wishes to United Plant Savers, and sharing the details of your DAF grant. It’s a great way to ensure that our organization has consistent financial support while saving cash for immediate needs.

We now accept donations of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies! This gives us one more way to fund our work and can provide you with extra tax benefits. Donate Bitcoin, Ethereum and more to save on taxes and make a big impact.

Leave a lasting legacy. Many of our supporters leave gifts to United Plant Savers in their wills or estate plans so they can do even more to protect medicinal plants for future generations. You can, too!

Please let us know if you’ve already included us in your estate plans! Letting us know is incredibly helpful to our team and helps to make sure your gift is used the way you want it to be.

If you would like to discuss these or any other ways you could support our work, please contact Susan Leopold at susan@unitedplantsavers.org.
