3 Ways to Help the Plants Now

New York Times National Biodiversity Strategy ad

1. Sign A Petition –
Join us in asking for a national biodiversity strategy

We recently joined the ranks of many other environmental nonprofits in taking out a full-page ad in The New York Times asking President Biden to ensure biodiversity is protected! While most of our colleagues sponsoring this petition are animal-centric nonprofits, we felt it was important to make sure the plants’ voices were heard too!! You can sign the petition now or check out the full-page ad by downloading here.

Let Old Forests Grow

2. Take Action
Join us in saving mature and old-growth trees

We also recently joined the Climate Forests Campaign, which works to protect mature and old-growth trees and forests across America’s public lands from being logged. Old forests on federal lands capture and store vast amounts of carbon pollution and should be a cornerstone of U.S. climate policy. If you agree, you can take action now by sending this letter to the Biden administration, telling them it’s time to let the trees grow!

Protect Craggy National Scenic Area

3. Add Your Comments
Stop logging and support a new scenic protected area in North Carolina

The draft forest plan has been released, and individuals and organizations have 60 days to file objections to the plan. Be a voice for the forest and comment today. Your comments can help protect the most important recreation and conservation areas in Pisgah—including the proposed CRAGGY NATIONAL SCENIC AREA.

WHAT IS THE CRAGGY WILDERNESS AND NATIONAL SCENIC AREA?

The Craggy Wilderness and National Scenic Area will permanently protect 16,000 acres of ancient forests, waterfalls, trout streams, world-class trails, and panoramic vistas less than 15 miles from downtown Asheville. The United States only has ten national scenic areas. Craggy could be our eleventh.
