Heartwood 32nd Annual Forest Council

SAVE THE DATE - Heartwood will be holding its 32nd annual Forest Council gathering in southeast Ohio May 24-27, 2024, with keynote speaker Chad Hanson of the John Muir Project. This year's gathering will be held at the United Plant Savers botanical sanctuary in Rutland, OH.

Elderberry Cultivation Workshop

May 4 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, Rutland, OH — Join us as we discuss the American Elderberry (Sambucus canadensis), a versatile flowering and fruit-bearing shrub that can be used in the landscape, pantry, and medicine chest! We will discuss the basics of the elderberry life cycle, plant uses/products, growing conditions and site preferences, and cultivation strategies for fruit, flower, and planting stock production.

This event will provide participants with an overview of how to sustainably cultivate, manage, and market ramps in the forest or garden.
